چکیده
We study a fully developed creeping flow of nematic liquid crystals in curved pipe with circular cross-section. A special limit zero Deborah number and an infinite Ericksen is considered, so the orientation director are described by transversely isotropic fluid (TIF) model. Analytical solutions obtained expanding governing equation small curvature ?, defined as ratio radius to bend. show that presence bend alters microstructure axial velocity profile. The additional non-Newtonian stress generates secondary flow, which consists two counter-rotating vortices. Two mechanisms responsible for motion identified (1) combination normal stresses (2) asymmetry distribution. relative strength direction those framework model quantified through parameter q. For all considered this paper, dominates, thus controlling opposite induced inertia. Finally, we quantify contribution viscous dissipation shearing increases losses power consumption without contributing throughput.

Prediction of turbulent flow in curved pipes
A finite-difference procedure is employed to predict the development of turbulent flow in curved pipes. The turbulence model used involves the solution of two differential equations, one for the kinetic energy of the turbulence and the other for its dissipation rate. The predicted total-velocity contours for the developing flow in a 180’ bend are compared with the experimental data. Predictions...

متن کاملThe extensional flow of a thin sheet of incompressible, transversely isotropic fluid
Motivated by the aim of modelling the mechanical behaviour of biological gels (such as collagen gels) which have a fibrous microstructure, we consider the extensional flow of a thin two-dimensional film of incompressible, transversely isotropic viscous fluid. Neglecting inertia, and the effects of gravity and surface tension, leading-order equations are derived from a perturbation expansion of ...
متن کاملInvestigation of instable fluid velocity in pipes with internal nanofluid flow based on Navier-Stokes equations
In this article, the instable fluid velocity in the pipes with internal nanofluid is studied. The fluid is mixed by SiO2, AL2O3, CuO and TiO2 nanoparticles in which the equivalent characteristic of nanofluid is calculated by rule of mixture. The force induced by the nanofluid is assumed in radial direction and is obtained by Navier-Stokes equation considering viscosity of nanofluid. The displac...
متن کاملTransversely Isotropic Saturated Porous Formations
The wavefields generated by monopole and dipole sources in a fluid filled borehole embedded in multilayered transversely isotropic saturated porous formations are studied. The layers are modeled following Biot theory modified in accordance with homogenization theory. It allows to take into account a transversely isotropic skeleton and/or a transversely isotropic complex permeability tensor. The...
